Michelle Ye

Michelle Ye, born and raised in Maryland, is an artist involved with a variety of art forms. Her current work as a dance choreographer and performer revolves around the investigation of movement as she continues to find her artistic voice.
She is currently an undergraduate studying Dance and Media and Communications. Being an arts major and a Linehan scholar at UMBC allowed her to explore various art forms that she has now added into her toolbox. Her work encompasses dance (choreography and performance), photography, videography, acting and music. Her goal as a creator is to utilize her art as a medium to connect, inspire, and create positive change in the world.
She states “Dance has always been one of my favorite art forms because of the way it was integrated into my life. I started dancing at the age of 14 when I joined my high school dance program. By the time my senior year rolled around, I had become cheer captain of two years, and dance captain. My mental and physical growth through this journey has revealed to me my ability to achieve whatever I set my mind to, and my strength to overcome any challenges that stand in my way. I hope to share my experiences with young artists so that they can be empowered in the same way art strengthens me.”
She started her Modern and Contemporary training at the University of Maryland Baltimore County where she has recently completed her B.A. in Dance during the Spring 2021 semester. Her future goals are to explore her various art forms while continuously growing her dance career.
