Emily Jarrett is a native of Salisbury, Maryland. She began her dance training at Footsteps Dance Academy and Salisbury Dance Academy, studying ballet, jazz, tap, hip-hop, and Irish step. During this time, she performed with the Eastern Shore Ballet Theatre, under the direction of Elena Manakhova-Amy. She attended the summer program at Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet for four years, later returning for two more as a residence staff member.
Emily continued her education at Mercyhurst University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in both Dance and Criminal Justice. She performed with The Mercyhurst Dancers as well as the Mercyhurst Liturgical Dance Ensemble as a student. In addition, she was an active member of the Mercyhurst chapter of the National Honor Society for Dance Arts and received scholarships for both dance and academic achievement, making the Dean’s List each year.
Emily has performed with the Lake Erie Ballet, Virginia National Ballet, and Asaph Dance Ensemble in both soloist and corps roles. Her choreography has also been featured in the Asaph Dance Ensemble's Reflections to Revival. She is excited to be joining Ballet Embody for the Fall 2021 season!

I have three pet rats named Ranch, Freya, and Rizzo. They are super sweet and very clever. They even have their own Instagram!
What genre of dance is your favorite? Why?
Contemporary Ballet - I love stretching the bounds of technique to create something new and unique.
What is your favorite full length ballet/variation/performance? Why?
Jirí Kylián's Petite Mort. The dynamics and fluidity are just breathtaking.
Why do you dance?
Partly because I like striving for constant improvement & the pursuit of perfect technique... partly because I just like to noodle my body.
If you wear pointe shoes, what kind do you wear? If not pointe shoes, what kind of flat shoes do you prefer?
Bloch European Balance! I used to love my Capezio Glissés until they got discontinued 😢
What other jobs/activities/talents/passions do you pursue?
When I'm not in the dance studio, I enjoy swimming, video games, and music. I took piano lessons for 10 years, and I still enjoy playing from time to time.
