#StuCoFeatureFriday | Meet Hannah

Hannah started dance at the age of three, and has been dancing competitively since the age six. She has trained in ballet, pointe, jazz, contemporary, musical theatre, hip hop, modern, and although she does not currently train in tap, she has done it before and at conventions. Hannah has auditioned and won scholarships at many conventions over the years and has attended The Dance Awards nationals and NYCDA virtual nationals. Something else Hannah enjoys is acting. She has done acting lessons with Lane Napper, and has taken his TV jazz classes at Broadway Dance Center.

Inspirational Quote:

“Stop being afraid about what could go wrong, and start being positive about what could go right.”

Do you have any pets?

I have one dog, and her name is Mocha. She is 6 years old, and a mix of something. We aren’t really sure, but we know she has some terrier in her!

Tell us about your dance training and background.

I have been dancing since I was 3, and dancing competitively since I was 6 or 7. I train in all styles, except for tap. I do tap at conventions, but other then that it is not my thing. I love going to intensives and training there too! I have been to ballet plus in Miami, Joffery’s both summer and winter intensives, and Pre professional dance institute.

What genre of dance is your favorite? Why?

My favorite style of dance is contemporary because I love having freedom to move in my own way, there are so many different styles and movements to contemporary and it also involves technique which I love! Ballet is a close second though

What's your favorite full length ballet/performance/variation? Why?

My favorite ballet is the Nutcracker, which I know is very basic but it is always my favorite to watch! I also love Giselle!

Why do you dance?

I dance to express myself. It gives me another way to communicate but through movement rather then speaking. I also dance because I just love it and it makes me happy!

What other activities/hobbies do you pursue?

Although I don’t do it a lot, I like running! I also really like volleyball but I have never actually played it on a team because I don’t have time with dance.

What are you looking forward to this season with Ballet Embody?

I am looking forward to getting to perform with all my friends on the student company, and getting to see the professionals dance!
