We are delighted to announce another season of the Ballet Embody Student Company, an exceptional opportunity for dedicated dance students in the midst of their training years. Our Student Company offers unique experiences and unparalleled opportunities that set us apart from typical student performance groups.

The Ballet Embody Student Company provides an extraordinary experience of training, rehearsing, and performing alongside the professional dancers of the Ballet Embody's Professional Company. Our rehearsal and performance processes operate just like any professional company, giving our students and their parents a realistic view of the professional dance world and its expectations. This immersive environment ensures high-quality training, artistic maturity, and development among our dancers.

New and Exciting Additions for the 2024-2025 Season

Student Company Apprentice Positions

This season, we are excited to introduce Student Company Apprentice positions. Advanced dancers aged 15 and older who demonstrate exceptional artistry and technical skills can audition for these roles during the general auditions. Apprentices will have the unique chance to dance and learn alongside our Professional Company more frequently, gaining invaluable professional experience and insight.

Performance of The Sleeping Beauty

We are thrilled to present an abridged version of the classical ballet, The Sleeping Beauty, highlighting the Student Company dancers. Rehearsals for fairy roles will begin in the fall, with performances scheduled for the fall and winter. The 2024-25 Performance Season will culminate with the full abridged version performed at our spring mainstage festival, Dance Mosaic, in May 2025.

Mentored Choreographic Opportunities

Ballet Embody values creativity and innovation. This season, our Student Company dancers will have the opportunity to participate in a collective mentored choreographic process, similar to last season's successful Interpretations and Elucidations. This process allows dancers to explore their creativity under professional guidance.

Why Join Ballet Embody Student Company?

Our Student Company dancers benefit immensely from the guidance of outstanding role models in our Professional Company. They gain a clear understanding of the expectations that will be placed upon them in the future, whether they pursue a career in dance or any other field. Participating in a professional setting cultivates essential qualities such as teamwork, independence, time management, and effective communication. The lessons learned while a Student Company dancer are invaluable and will serve students well in all areas of their lives, including high school, college, and beyond.

A Student Company directly connected to a Professional Company is a rare and unique opportunity in the state of Maryland. We are proud to be home to so many talented dancers, students, and professionals alike, and we look forward to another incredible season with the Ballet Embody Student Company.
